Great stuff. The novelist Ron Rash talks about the use of an "abiding image" as a source of ideas and inspiration for story. An especially evocative, haunting, mysterious or intriguing image can be fertile with possibilities and poetic potential. Another source of material is to examine the things that you obsess about, and the things that disturb your psyche: such obsessions and disturbances are also fertile ground for the imagination.
