I did. The fill-in boxes only allowed 50 letters so hope my comments made sense. It's a requirement for most movies or broadcast shows. We've had to create cc content before.

I am conducting a very general survey about closed captioning and am wondering if you could help me out in my research. There are only 10 questions so it should just take a couple of minutes. Thank you for your time in advance. Here is the link ...

Hello Joanna, great to see Aberdeen represented here on VSN.. the last show I worked on here in Atlanta, On Mission Xtra for FamilyNet used your guys for captioning, we worked with Arif Kusuma and Steve Holmes. Great folks, stuck with us to the end. Are you going to be at NAB this year? I am coming with a group of 3 other associates and look forward to stopping by the Aberdeen booth SL10309. Did you ever get feedback on your question about getting a program on Christian television?

About Aberdeen Captioning, Inc.

The idea of Aberdeen Captioning, Inc began with two sisters, Amy & Becky, and their big brother, Matt, as they were sitting around a campfire in the summer of 2001. They had the perfect combination of passion and talent. Amy had a passion for closed captioning and had been working as a real-time captioner for years. Becky had fervor and training for broadcast television. Matt had always been the entrepreneur in the family and loved having his two sisters in on this great opportunity. So there you have it: Captioning knowledge, broadcast training, and entrepreneurship—the perfect brother and sister union for what now has become Aberdeen Captioning, Inc.

Being from a small farming town in Michigan, they were brought up with a strong work ethic, integrity, and Christian faith. These values are what Aberdeen is built upon. Whether it is clients or employees, Aberdeen stands behind these values, and it shows—clients who work with Aberdeen, stay with Aberdeen.

From three siblings working out of an apartment to over 30 team members strong, Aberdeen has continued to grow year after year, never losing sight of their mission—to provide access for everyone. They believe all viewers—the hard of hearing, the deaf, English language learners, and more—should have equal access to all programming.

Today, Aberdeen Captioning is a place people come to find solutions to their closed captioning, subtitling, and post-production needs and where employees love coming to work.

The Basics of 608 vs. 708 Captions

Friday, June 12, 2009 was the official transition of analog television being replaced by digital television (DTV) in the United States. With this having taken place, I thought it would be the appropriate time to discuss 608 captions (captions for analog TV) and 708 captions (captions for DTV). If you didn’t know that two types of captioning standards existed, you most definitely will want to read on.

Please note that in this article I simplified the terms to 608 or 708 captions, but you will of… Continue

Sony and Aberdeen to Demonstrate First Application of File-based Closed Captioning at NAB

Sony Electronics and Aberdeen Captioning along with software developer CPC have joined forces to develop the first file-based closed-captioning system that maximizes the benefits of Sony’s XDCAM HD422 tapeless technology. The new workflow uses Sony’s PDW-HD1500 optical deck to make the process more efficient, faster and more flexible.

“Because the XDCAM system is file-based, we’re able to do our work in a much more refined and streamlined way,” said Matt Coo… Continue
